I am an ice hockey player-turned-professional-triathlete from Exeter, New Hampshire. I currently live in Carlsbad, California to train but will never lose my "Live Free or Die" roots. 2012 will be my 3rd full season as a professional triathlete and my focus is the 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas on September 9, 2012. Off-Season Update

It's now been a week since we got back from the tropical paradise that is Kona!
This is what I spent most of the days in Kona doing...ROUGH:) Despite my excitement to go for some rides on the Queen K and surprisingly, yes, some swims in the Bay, I often ended up choosing poolside to exercise. Off-season at its finest!
More off-season at its finest! This wasn't my drink obviously. Haha. LOVE the Kona Brewing Co. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere.
Race day came and went....super quick for me as I got to ride on the motorcycle again to give the girls the time splits. Here, Jose Jeuland was kind enough to send a picture he caught of me in action! Thanks Jose!!!!
After the pros were done, Wattie and I got some dinner and then stayed out for the final competitors, including cheering on a friend on the final 15 miles or so to come in around 11:40pm. You can see some crazy stuff out there on the Queen K in the final hours of that race but it was incredible to see people pushing through making their way to the finish-line. People out there halfway falling over but still going towards Mike Reilly's voice off in the distance. Talk about inspiring.
A few more days of relaxation by the pool before flying out on the red-eye last Wednesday night to get back to LAX and then make the drive south to SD. We spent the weekend unpacking, relaxing, watching football, movies (if you haven't seen Bridesmaids, which I hadn't before this weekend, holy hilarious!!!!), a few runs at some new trails we found...well we didn't find new trails but we actually ventured out of our little Carlsbad area and found a SICK new running venue to use for some of our long runs.
Wattie also took me to Old Town, a small little part of San Diego that I'd never been to. Pretty cool! Monday night football. Then also ventured back into the pool the other morning, figuring I'd given myself enough time off from the drudgery:) just kidding, i LOVE swimming.
I'm easing back into it this week and then let the Base training blocks begin. Super excited for our team meeting this evening! Wattie and I are meeting PJ and RV for dinner to discuss the plan for the next few "off-season" months and our plan coming into 2012, as well as the 2012 schedule. Exciting stuff to come! Hope everyone's enjoying the off-season, or ready for their final races of 2011....
